Mr. Mark Ellis
Coaching Director

The coaching staff will be under the direction of Mark Ellis, a Professional Soccer player for Bradford City for over 14 years who will oversee the player development program at IASA. Mark has also worked at several UK professional clubs as a coach, Leeds Utd, Huddersfield Town FC. He has also coaching stints in South Africa and the USA. His coaching qualifications are up to the UEFA "A" licensed standard. Mark's professional contacts span the world and he will seek players from aboard to play at IASA.

Mark will be responsible for not only developing players to move to the next level but will oversee the relationship that IASA has developed with professional clubs not only in the UK but in the European leagues too.

The qualification for an IASA coaching staff member is a UEFA "A" license. There will be two full time UEFA "A" licensed coaches working with Mark in addition to a GK coach.

John Hendrie
Professional Academy Coordinator, Player Representative & Consultant

John played at the Premiership level with Newcastle United, Middelsborough, Leeds United, Barnsley and Bradford City FC. John has also been the manager of Barnsley FC when they were in the English Premiership.; John also holds the UEFA "A" Coaching License.

John has numerous contacts within the professional game and will be responsible for coordinating the games for IASA with professional youth team academies. John will represent all IASA players who are looking to play at any professional level. He has already managed and consulted with several top premiership players including Robbie Savage, Leicester City FC, Birmingham City FC and Welsh International, Mark Schwarzer Australian International and Fulham Goalkeeper, Stuart Mc Call Bradford City FC Manager, Everton and Scotland International, and Dean Windass, Bradford City & Hull City FC.

John's son is presently on the books at Manchester United Professional Youth Academy.

Brian Haley PhD.
International Director

Brian is a Professional College coach in the US since 1989 after moving to the US from England. He holds a Doctorate in Education as well as the Premier Coaching license from the National Soccer Coaching Association of America. Brian will oversee the recruitment of the student athlete to the IASA program in the UK. He will work closely with both the CEO of IASA and the Football Director to ensure the student experience is one of quality and provides the right opportunity for players and meets their expectations. Brian played for a number of semi professional teams in the UK.

Dale Friesen
Technology Director

Dale will oversee the Marketing, Web design and total on line athlete development program. IASA will be using the world's first interactive technology system for coaching education and player development. This system is cutting edge and presently being used by several MLS academy and professional teams as well as top premier select teams in North America. Dean Windass

Dean Windass, scores the winning goal at Wembley to take Hull City from the Championship to the Premier league. This strike is estimated to be worth 60 million pounds for Hull City FC.

Dean will work closely with Mark Ellis, the coaching director, to assess players and advise players on what it takes to make the grade and be able offer up and coming players advice on what they need to go to the next level.

Di Jones

Di Jones is the present England U21 scout. As an International Scout he knows how to spot talent and help develop players. Di has worked with Crystal Place and Wimbledon when they were both in the Premier League and Champion league respectively. He has worked with players at all levels from college aged to the professional levels. Di will be on hand to provide advise for young players and use contacts to help IASA players within the club networks.


Gary Batley

Gary Batley, will be part of the coaching staff with Mark Ellis and John Hendrie. Gary holds the UEFA "A" license and is a Coach educator up to level 3 UEFA B. Gary will help with coaching the IASA teams and help the IASA player's progress up the coaching ladder as they enroll and undertake their UEFA coaching license, which is part of the IASA curriculum. Gary has also worked at Leeds United football academy and runs his own football school in Mexico City where he trains future coaches.

Academic Staff


Professor Robert Leppard
University Provost

Born and educated in the United Kingdom, Robert studied for a degree in engineering in London and subsequently for a degree in Finance in South Africa. This developed an extensive international career as an executive in the oil and mining industries, a career which spanned twenty five years in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In 1985 having returned to Europe and living in France, Robert combined international consulting with teaching on an international MBA program in Montpellier.

A progressive career in education followed, this focussed on all aspects of international business, particularly the development of the next generation of international business leaders. These ideals fitted especially well with the mission of Richmond and in 1993 Robert joined Richmond as a Visiting Fellow on the MBA program.

After taking up a fulltime position with Richmond as Chair of the Department of Business and Economics, his focus has evolved through development of the Richmond International Internship program and the business degrees offered by Richmond.

Robert continues to consult and assist with training in industry and serves on several executive boards.

Work Experience/Education
Mara was born in Italy and spent her youth in Upstate New York. Upon completing her second year of undergraduate studies in the United States, Mara chose to continue her studies abroad, in Italy.
Mara holds both a degree in Italian Language and Culture from L'Universita' per Stranieri di Perugia, obtained in 1995, and a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies from The American University of Rome (AUR), achieved in 1999. Prior to joining the Richmond Team in 2009, Mara served as the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Administrator at AUR. Mara has travelled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the United States, possesses dual citizenship in Italy and the United States and is fluent in both Italian and English.
